Revisions to HASSET concepts and structures are made regularly, in order to reflect new research and development in social science and humanities.

From September 2017 onwards, work has focused on the removal of orphan terms (i.e. terms with no Broader or Narrower Concept), and on the reconstruction of the following hierarchies:

From November 2019 onwards, much of the work has concentrated on the migration of HASSET to a new management system, VocBench, and publishing platform, Skosmos. Content development work has focused on the removal of orphan terms (i.e. terms with no Broader or Narrower Concept), the addition of new concepts to cover rapid research studies conducted to investigate social and economic developments caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the revision of terms related to sexuality (this work is still in progress).
